Q: I have a problem. My friends always tend to write on my facebook Tumblr wall and get upset when I don’t return the favor. It’s just that when I see a new notification, I read it and move on. Unless I talk to you everyday, you’re not worthy of an instant wall-response. Is that too harsh? Or should I come up with a rehab plan that will allow me to respond quickly? HELP!
A: Hey there, anonymous caller. Who do you think you are? You’re just too cool for school, huh? People are trying to make a connection with you and you’re making them talk to the hand. That’s beyond rude. It’s really not that hard to get back to someone when they contact you. Even a simple “LOL” or “what’s up” will make that person feel loved and remembered. Let’s follow your brilliant idea for a rehab plan. Get in the habit of responding immediately to all FB messages and wall posts you receive. This might lead to even more messages and even the threat of a Facebook wall conversation. Don’t stress. I can’t imagine that you have anything going on in your life that will change from this new FBehavior. Let the people come to you, all they want is a moment of your time and a friendly response on their public wall so everyone knows they are friends with the cool kid.
I have to say, however, there is something fishy about this anonymous question. I have never heard of a “Facebook Tumblr wall”, and I can’t help but notice that the word “Tumblr” in your Q links to the “popular” page of the tumblr site. The Laurens love Facebook and Tumblr, but we’re not down with subliminal links. Let’s keep it clean or we’ll all end up with some NSFW images popping up. Not that we’re not down with that…
Love,
Lauren
