Q: What is the best cure for your feelings of inadequacy when your tagged facebook photos don’t represent how beautiful you are/ you don’t engage in enough social activities to create an album of your own. Or, should I just use photobooth and create an album and profile picture from that?
A: Aww…it sounds like your mom gave you a lot of praise as a child. So the photos you’ve been tagged in “just don’t represent how beautiful you are”? You sound a little cocky but don’t worry, I’ll bring you back down to earth. The truth is, from the dawn of time photographs have been a clear representation of what we actually look like. They can be taken at inopportune moments—blinking, turning awkwardly, making a silly face—but those are legitimate representations of your person and what everyone else sees when they look at you. Sadly, the next part of your question basically puts the nail in the coffin that you’re not “as beautiful as you think you are” because beautiful people always have full dance cards. That’s just the way it is. Pictures are being taken and tagged regularly for these gems of the world. Your solution to make a Photo Booth album is… fine… however it will only confirm your FB friends’ belief that you spend a lot of time home alone. Honestly I think you’re hopeless. Put up a pic that you think represents your amazing beauty and call it a night. Now to quell those feelings of inadequacy… Uppers only work for so long but if you start now you could probably cash in on a few good years. Otherwise I’d suggest veiling your mirrors.
Love,
Lauren
