Q: What do I do about friends who use Facebook as their own personal political platform? I’d much rather know about their silly day-to-day happenings and not their opinion on the healthcare plan or how incompetent they think our president is! I’ve already used the hide option (being too much of a wuss to actually delete these peeps from my past), but it doesn’t seem to be working on my iphone. Any help or advice you can provide? -Heather
A: Heather. You seem like a perfectly sweet person, but I’ve had it up to my eyebrows with you iPhone users.  Is it not enough for you people that you have GPS, a 3G network, Tap Tap Revenge, and the ability to cruise for men at your fingertips at all times? Come September 25th you’ll even be able to send MULTIMEDIA MESSAGES—how could you possibly have anything to complain about after that?!  Is seeing the status updates of someone you mildly dislike (but not enough to fully unfriend) seriously so damaging to your quality of life?
Ok.. Apologies for that little outburst. I’m going to help you, but it’s mostly because you like Obama. A lot of iPhone users have the same issue— people who get on your last nerve are showing up in your mini-feed on your iPhone even though you’ve successfully banished them from the web version of your Facebook page.  And that’s not fair—  regardless of how awesome your phone is, you deserve to have the people you dislike hidden from view just like the rest of us.  Fortunately for you, iPhone users stick together and professional nerd David Obregon has come up with a workaround for Apple’s clearly unsatisfactory Facebook app.  David says:
“I did find that if you make separate lists for people you want to see and people you don’t, the app will let you choose the different lists in the news feed if you scroll to the right on the second menu bar within the app.”
Heather, I suggest you pay David back with an open mouthed kiss or something because he just saved you from countless FB status updates from birthers and Glenn Beck supporters.  Now sit back and sip on a pumpkin spice latte prepared by your iPhone.  They can do that now, right?
Love,
Lauren
